750pts Imperial Japanese Army WIP. Sneak Peek!

Of all my armies, my IJA see the table the most. 

My 750pt list has been partially batch painted, and I'm planning on having them be the first army I finish for this blog. This is a WIP post, showing off what they're current condition is. Yes, I missed some mold lines, but I'm not terribly concerned with that. I should be, but I'm not. Colors are taken from Osprey's Imperial Japanese Army uniform books, as well as some serious and in-depth googling. 

The HQ consists of one bold Officer. 


The list's primary AT support is in the form of three Suicide AT guys, good luck to them and glory for to the Emperor!! One of them is a custom job, I'll show off more when he's done. 


The list has two primary infantry squads consisting of 11 men, NCO with rifle and no fancy upgrades. To distinguish between the two first squad has helmets, and second squad has hats. 



These brave lads are backed up by three support squads. Two island warfare squads with LMG, and a grenadier squad with 3 "ni" light mortars. The two island warfare squads are differentiated by different helmet color. 



 

Everything is rounded out with a medium mortar with spotter, and a ultra light Type 94 Tankette. Of the list, only the tankette is finished, as armor is my primary obsession..



That's that. With some luck and dedication this will be the first project finished in the new year.

I've been working on all this in earnest since last August, terrain, lore, armies, everything organized for Fistful of Lead, and Beyond the Empire. The Yellow Locust Gang

The countryside of Xiǎo Yú, like with most Chinese provinces during this era, is plagued with bandit gangs. Ranging from small ragtag groups of thugs to large organized but poorly disciplined hosts they are countless and unending. A constant stream of destitute peasants, craven deserters, and those just looking for an easy meal keep these gangs flush with manpower. Two major gangs prowl Xiǎo Yú, one of which is known as "The Yellow Locust Gang." Yellow representing power and prosperity in traditional Chinese culture, and locust referring to the gangs ability to lay waste to all they descend on. They are lead by "Four Eyes" Chin, a smart and capable man believed to once have been a junior officer in the now destroyed Anhui Clique. Chin's nickname stems from his poor eyesight, the man needing glasses to see beyond the end of his nose. Armored Rail Cruiser "The Angry Dragon"

 Known as The Angry Dragon to the locals and the common soldiery, and the Armored Cruiser to most military commanders in the province, this train is a coveted and feared weapon, often fought over by all sides. At one point or another the train has steamed alongside all the major powers in the province, from the Japanese, to the Warlords, the Nationalists and even the White Russians. Shifting sides when captured or overran, no commander is willing to scuttle her, they rather squabble than take her out of play. She may be ours this week, theirs the next, the Bolsheviks the following, but by next month, she'll be ours again! 6 weeks at most..   Under Japanese Command, patrolling somewhere deep in the countryside.
